Diabetic Research Institute

Our Mission

Our Mission

Our goal is to provide a holistic support system through offering free education to help visitors of DRI to successfully manage type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

Supportive Friend

Diabetic Management

Diabetic Research Institute is a non-profit organization established in 2004.

Staff at DRI aim to empower diabetics with the self-management skills necessary to improve their quality of life by offering free evidenced based education and support to type 1 and type 2 diabetics.

Client assessment

We invite type 1 and type 2 diabetics to our facility, where they will receive a warm welcome and free assistance with the appropriate care and education.

Clients can be assessed by the in-house nurse, physician and psychologist available at DRI.

In an effort to spread local awareness we are partnering with teachers and school nurses in an attempt to identify children at risk of developing the disease and those who are currently living with type 1 or type 2 diabetes.

Testimonials
Client Testimonials

On entering the Nurse's office, I felt comfortable and relaxed. She reminded me to take my medications on time, exercise daily and check my blood sugar level. She explained everything to me clearly. I look forward to coming to the DRI because of their caring attitude. I now have confidence in coping with my issues.

I have recently been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, with a reading up to 362. MY first reaction was, this is the end of my life and went into a state of depression. The heavy load of diabetes has lighten since I started going to the DRI. I have been able to manage my sugar level reading at 84-192. Thank you to the workers of this great non profit institute.

The diagnosis of diabetes changed my life forever. I was both scared and terrified. I received information about the DRI and contacted them immediately. I was able to attend their DSME Program where the nurse was always positive, encouraged us and reminded us that diabetes is not a "death sentence".  I have adopted a new family since joining the DRI and can positively say that the staff at DRI are extremely friendly, efficient and professional.
